Quad City Botanical Center

"As CEO, during the start up, I was proud of the board, staff, and 350 volunteers who worked to bring another cultural attraction to the Quad Cities. It took volunteer committees to accomplish the tasks necessary to start up a botanical center. Their effort made a difference. The center opened on time - June 20, 1998."

For over a decade a group of garden enthusiasts
worked to turn this eyesore to bring the landmark Botanical Center to fruition.

Old Factory that was in the location of new Quad City Botanical Center

A New Landmark for a New Generation

To start the Quad City Botanical Center, it took 350 volunteers who were willing serve on the start up committees such as:
  • Board of Trustees for leadership
  • Membership Committee to initiate membership levels and programs
  • Education Committee to provide internship opportunities
  • Construction Committee to oversee the building
  • Garden Design Committee to oversee plant selection
  • Building Committee to oversee the interior decoration and equipment selection
  • Garden Walk committee to create a fundraising event
  • The Garden A Celebration Committee to create the grand opening.
  • Mailing Committee to assist with mailings

Every person contributes something.  The combined effort makes it happen.
  • Dining In Style Committee to create a fundraising event
  • Gift Shop Committee to purchase and stock the shop
  • Computer Committee to install computers
  • Library Committee to identify book selection and purchase furniture
  •  Web Site, Design, and Marketing Committee

I am sorry that I can not list names.
Too many people and everyone was necessary to achieve the success.
